AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE

Autoimmune disease is indicative of a compromised immune system. The immune system is primarily the gut and lymphatic system. Autoimmune disease doesn't just happen overnight. The nervous system has been hit hard for years or even decades. The nervous system is overwhelmed.

Some people can have an autoimmune disease but feel fine most of the time until there is a flare up exacerbated by inflammation stemming from stress, the gut and lymphatic system which impact the liver and lungs.

Calming down the nervous system is crucial.

The lymphatic areas of the head and neck must be focused on first as it decreases stress the fastest. Once the body is in a more relaxed state it is able to rid toxins out of the body more freely. At a later stage with the guidance of a trained health practitioner, the other major lymph nodes can and should be worked on too.

Stop focusing on the label and the symptoms. Focus on supporting the body.

MASTER YOUR MORNING ROUTINE

โ€œAn extraordinary life is all about daily, continuous improvements in the areas that matter most.โ€ -Robin Sharma

#1. Make your morning work for you. We are all so beautifully unique and lead different lives, so why would our morning routines look the same? Devise a routine that is practical for you!

#2. Start the night before. A day unplanned often leads us fumbling from one activity to the next and wondering where the day went. Layout those exercise clothes, put out that meditation cushion and have the smoothie ingredients ready to go.

#3. Mornings are our most productive time of the day. In the morning our cortisol is the highest so ideally, this is when you have the most energy and motivation. Itโ€™s great to use the mornings to proverbially, โ€œeat that frogโ€ and tackle the harder tasks first.

#4. Get inspired! Pick a selection of the following ideas to create a morning routine that gets you excited to jump out of bed;

MOVE

Starting your day with a workout, stretch or a walk around the block, undeniably has its benefits, mentally and physically. Other activities could include;

-       Exercise class

-       Movement you enjoy

-       Weights

-       Foam roll

-       Movement in nature

REFLECT

A combination of the following will allow you to regroup, rethink and reflect;

-       Meditation

-       Gratitude

-       Visualization

-       Affirmations

-       Journaling

-       Reading

NOURISH

Your body is your temple so ensure you nourish it before you get your day started;

-       Hydrate

-       Nourishing breakfast

-       Tongue scrape

-       Oil pull

-       Self-massage/ dry brushing

-       Consuming inspirational content

And lastly, remember to have fun with it! Thereโ€™s no right or wrong way as long as youโ€™re creating a routine that brings you joy.

THE LOW DOWN OF FOOD SENSITIVITIES

DO ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS SOUND FAMILIAR?

Fatigue

Muscle / Joint pain

Skin rashes

Mood disorders

Food cravings

Sleep apnoea/snoring

Fibromyalgia

Acid reflux

Water retention

Weight gain

Learning disorders

Auto-immune

Headaches/Migraines

Brain fog

These are common ailments reported by our clients with food sensitivities.

Food sensitivities are caused by a leaky gut, aka intestinal permeability. So what causes leaky gut?

Lots of things really, but the most common culprits are inflammatory foods. Inflammatory foods include processed and packaged foods, as well as refined sugar, salt and oils, gluten and dairy. Furthermore, Panadol and Nurofen, alcohol, chronic stress, birth control, chlorine and fluoride (in non-filtered water) and Antibiotics are other culprits.

When a gut is leaky the tight junctions of the intestinal wall become weak and permeable, allowing undigested food particles, yeast, fungi, proteins, bacteria and toxins to move into the bloodstream. These pathogens and alien invaders trigger an immune response in the body, which leads to food sensitivities and potentially many other ailments of the body and mind.

As integrative Health Practitioners, we like to take the approach โ€“ Test Donโ€™t Guess! The Complete Food Sensitivity Tests is the test we recommend to our clients to get to the bottom of their food sensitivities and to design a bio-individualised healing protocol to relieve them of symptoms.

When we run the Complete Food Sensitivity Test, we see the most common food sensitives are: gluten, dairy, eggs (especially egg white) and nuts. Clients can also have some, what might seem like surprising sensitivities to salmon, eggplant, sweet potato or even avocado! The Complete Food Sensitivity Test that we recommend tests for 92 food sensitivities.

Do you think you may have food sensitivities? But you canโ€™t do the Complete Food Sensitivity Test just yet? We have a DIY program for you.

HOW TO DO AN ELIMINATION DIET

You could try a simple food elimination diet to see if you can identify any sensitivities. You can always work with someone at ZestFull Bliss to complete this, or you can give DIY a shot.

1. Follow this elimination diet shopping list for 4-6 weeks.

2. Reintroduce foods after the 4-6 week elimination, one food at a time, start with a gluten-free grain.

a. Test the new food over three days, donโ€™t add any other new foods until you have tested for three days.

b. As you are testing a new food take notice of any returning symptomology such as headaches, rashes, weight gain, brain fog, reflux and joint pain etc.

c. If any of these symptoms arise, stop testing this new food and return to the elimination diet until symptoms have passed, then try testing another food.

While it is handy to know which foods are causing you issues, food intolerances are a red flag that you need to complete some deeper gut healing. Please contact us if you would like to know more about the programs and protocols that we recommend.
